Description

Rouzaire has been an independent family owned company for 3 generations. The dairy and cellars are located in the heart of the Brie area. The AOC (name protected) status was awarded in 1980 to Brie de Meaux.

Brie de Meaux, named after the town of Meaux, is a French cheese produced in the region of Brie, located 50 kilometres to the east of Paris. Awarded ‘The King of Cheese’ in 1814 by Talleyrand, Brie is a big round cheese with a velvety bloomy rind, and some brownish spots on the top and bottom, meaning it's ripe and ready to eat. Its soft, straw coloured, creamy paste delivers a great combination of hazelnut and fruit yeasty flavours, and a delicious hint of mushrooms.

The cheese pairs perfectly with Champagne, red Bordeaux, Beaujolais or Pinot Noir from Bourgogne.
