Hospitalet de Gazin
Chateau Gazin is located on the site of a hospital built in the 18th century by the Knights of St. John. Once it was the site of a town and the hospital was situated on the road built by the Knights to host pilgrims heading to Santiago de Compostella, hence the name of the estate's second wine, l'Hospitalet de Gazin.
It wasn't until 1986 that l’Hospitalet de Gazin was created as the second wine to Chateau Gazin. Demand was immediate and now it is distributed worldwide under the eye of Jean-Pierre Moueix. Gazin's superb vineyards cover 28 hectares in total of which 26 are under vine, planted with of 90% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc. Traditional methods of viticulture and vinification are used with no use of chemical herbicides.
