Nerthe
One of the oldest and largest estates of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Chateau la Nerthe has become one of the most sort after wines of the appellation. It’s an impressive visit to the cellars where top Michelin star restaurants have there own individual cellars, with wines being reserved every year.
Located in Serignan-du-Comtat, between Orange and Avignon, the 40+ year old vineyard combines all traditional grape varietals for the Southern Rhone Valley: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvédre, Carignan, and Cinsault. The vines are planted in soils deep in calcareous sandstones well sited on gently undulating slopes.
Chateau la Nerthe is owned by the Richard family, like Prieure de Montezargues (Tavel). Ralph Garcin is the winemaker and manager of all three estates since January 2016.
