JC in France May - June 2018 | Day 12
I spent a bit of time with my Mum this morning and had lunch with her in one of her favourite restaurants close to the train station of St Etienne. I had to leave her to drive to the Lyon airport to meet up with a couple of Kiwis who will spend few days following me while I start my new week in the Beaujolais region and finishing up in Beaune (the heart of Burgundy). While driving up we were caught by an incredible storm that is so common in this part of France and in that period. Fortunately no hail but very, very heavy rain. We stayed for our first night in 'Hotel les Maritonnes' in Romaneche-Thorins and had dinner at their restaurant which is owned by 3 star Michelin chef – Georges Blanc. It was very good. - JC
