Driving in the Auvergne region seems to take forever to go from one place to another. And once again the weather does not treat me any better, be reassured this doesn't stop the local expert truck drivers on their daily milk collection for the Société Fromagère du Livradois based in Fournols. A small town 20 minutes drive south-west of Ambert. Right in the heart of the Livradois Forez Regional park.The Livradois cheese makers company has been a family-run business for 3 generations that keeps alive the traditional dairy and farm production of many Auvergne cheeses. It is considered as one of the top five cheese makers in this beautiful region. They are respected for their milk quality, never changing manufacture methods and exceptional maturation process. The Thuaire family produce Raclette Milledome, Bleu D’Auvergne and Fourme d’Ambert AOP with both unpasteurised and pasteurised milk from Holstein and Montbéliarde cows. In their store, the locals can check out and buy their other family products such as : Rocamadour, St Nectaire, Cantal and Reblochon.
