Tour de France Week 3 Overview
Date: 29-07-2019
Despite the action and drama of the past three weeks where we have seen the most bizarre weather conditions from heatwaves to hailstorms, the moment that many fans consider to be the “main event” has arrived. The final stage of the Tour de France, finishing under the Avenue des Champs-Elysées.
The courageous Frenchman, who lit up the 2019 Tour with his two stage wins and 14 days in the famous yellow jersey, could not maintain the pace, losing contact with the rest of the contenders 13km from the top of the 33km ascent to Val Thorens.
Sadly he finished the race in 5th place overall, however his efforts did not go unnoticed being named the race's most combative rider.
Egan Bernal's at 22, is the third youngest winner in the history of the Tour, also claimed the best young rider classification and despite not winning a single stage he is the first Colombian to win the Tour de France!
